Results of the Second Meeting of the Central Asian Youth Dialogue

On April 16, 2025, the Second Meeting of the Central Asian Youth Dialogue was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The establishment and continuation of the Central Asian Youth Dialogue in Arkadag demonstrates the region’s desire to realize its demographic potential, as young people make up a significant portion of the region’s population and, with appropriate support and cooperation, can become a powerful driver of economic growth. Investments in youth education, employment, and regional cooperation are essential to ensure sustainable development in Central Asia.

Following the meeting, the address of the participants of the Second Meeting of the Central Asian Youth Dialogue was adopted as the final document. This joyful news delighted all the youth of our country. It is a matter of pride that the voice of our country’s youth has been accepted by the UN and adopted as a resolution in six official languages. The abbreviated version of the resolution:

1. Resolution 2250 and Youth in Peace

Youth were officially recognized for the first time as crucial to peace and security. Over the past ten years, countries have developed action plans, held youth gatherings, and involved young people in peacebuilding projects. We remain committed to this goal.

2. 2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust

The UN declared 2025 the “International Year of Peace and Trust.” This calls on all nations to listen to each other and build mutual confidence. We, as young people, are ready to share the message of peace with our friends and communities.

3. 30 Years of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality

Turkmenistan has maintained permanent neutrality for 30 years, avoiding conflict and helping preserve stability in Central Asia. Every December 12 we celebrate Neutrality Day. We support these values of friendship and respect.

4. ECOSOC Youth Forum

The UN Youth Forum helps us exchange ideas and work on positive initiatives. Here we learn how to make our region stronger and safer.

5. Central Asia as a Zone of Peace and Cooperation

Central Asian countries have agreed to stand together and tackle challenges jointly. Regular leaders’ meetings strengthen our bonds and support regional development.

6. Youth as the Region’s Future

More than half of our population is under 30. We are not just beneficiaries of peace but active participants and leaders with creative ideas for development.

7. Environmental Protection and “Green” Growth

We aim to protect nature by sharing clean-energy technologies and wildlife conservation practices. Young people are ready to plant trees and safeguard rivers.

8. Water‑Energy Cooperation

Our countries collaborate to manage shared water resources—such as efforts to save the Aral Sea. Young specialists can help innovate water‑saving methods and educate communities.

9. Digital Technologies for Everyone

The Internet and new technologies expand access to education and communication. We want high‑speed Internet in rural areas and safe online spaces free from hate and harassment.

10. 2030 Sustainable Development Goals

The UN’s roadmap for 2030 promotes social, economic, and environmental progress. Youth in Central Asia are eager to contribute innovative projects to help achieve these goals.

11. Youth in Decision‑Making

We seek to participate in policymaking through youth councils and parliaments. The Central Asia Youth Dialogue itself is a testament to our commitment; we plan to hold these meetings annually on a rotating basis.

12. Participation in International Forums

In August 2025, Turkmenistan will host the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. We will attend to present our ideas and learn from other nations.

13. Call for Global Support

We, the young leaders of Central Asia, are full of energy and ideas for peace and sustainable development. We urge the UN and its Member States to back our initiatives and translate this declaration into all six UN languages.

This document will consolidate the achievements achieved and create opportunities for the implementation of new major projects and initiatives. This Dialogue is considered an important platform for interaction between the youth of Central Asia, and will contribute to the development of cooperation and the exchange of best practices.
