Turkmenistan Strengthens Youth Diplomacy: Meeting with UN Assistant Secretary-General within the Framework of the ECOSOC Forum

On April 16, 2025, a meeting of the Deputy minister of Education of Turkmenistan A. Atayev with the assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, Dr. Felipe Paullier was held at the UN Headquarters in New York within the framework of  the ECOSOC Youth Forum and the second meeting of the “Youth Dialogue of the Central Asian Countries”. 

Dr. Felipe Paullier highly appreciated the contribution of the country, noting the Turkmen model of youth support as an example to follow, especially for developing states.

Atayev presented the achievements of Turkmenistan under the motto of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Youth is the support of the Motherland”, including the Law “On Youth Policy” (2022), the programme for 2021-2025 and the Strategy for International Cooperation of Youth until 2030. He emphasized the developed institutional mechanisms allowing to use in full a demographic dividend for the  innovative development of the country. During the meeting, Paullier highly appreciated the efforts of Turkmenistan for developing initiatives aimed at the strengthening of the support of the youth on the international level, especially emphasiszing the “ Youth Dialogue of the Central Asian Countries” developed in 2023 in Arkadag city. The UN Assistant Secretary-General thanked him for a high-level organization of the event, stressing the role of this event in the consolidation of the international community and correspondence to the Pact for the Future in the terms of youth involvement and digitalization.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to develop partnership through joint youth educational and innovative programmes.
