Meeting was held at the UN Headquarters in New York between the Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan and the Director of the UNESCO Office and UNESCO Representative to the UN, Mr. Eliot Minchenberg.
During the meeting, both sides highly praised the long-standing fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO in the fields of education, science, and culture. The Deputy Minister emphasized that Turkmenistan actively integrates advanced international approaches, cooperating with UNESCO institutions such as the Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE). In particular, the successful experience of joint work in the digital transformation of the educational process was highlighted, including the development of a national digital learning platform and the implementation of modern solutions based on artificial intelligence.
Mr. Minchenberg highly appreciated the effectiveness of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education within the framework of the Roadmap signed in 2023 between the Ministry of Education and IITE and emphasized the importance of scaling this positive experience to other countries, especially developing ones. He expressed his readiness to support Turkmenistan’s initiatives at the UN level, aimed at promoting the exchange of advanced educational practices and technologies.
The Director of the UNESCO Office to the UN expressed interest in holding joint events under the auspices of UNESCO at the UN, including a forum dedicated to the role of digital technologies in ensuring sustainable development and strengthening the culture of peace and trust.
At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed confidence that the agreements reached would open new prospects for strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and UNESCO and would contribute to achieving common goals in the fields of education, science, and culture.
