On the initiatives of Turkmenistan, The Second Meeting of the Dialogue of the Youth of Countries of Central Asia will take place at the UN Headquarters
On April 16, 2025, The Second Meeting of the Dialogue of the Youth of Countries of Central Asia will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This event is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution on Youth, Peace, and Security and will be held under the motto "Voices of Youth for Peace and Trust."
The Second Meeting of the Dialogue of the Youth of Countries of Central Asia will be held within the framework of the upcoming session of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The organization of the Youth Forum as part of this major event is a traditional practice for the UN platform. During the forum, young leaders exchange ideas on how to give new stimulus to the advancement of the global Agenda, which significantly contributes to ensuring that their interests and opinions are taken into consideration within shaping a common framework for peace and security across a broad space.
First launched in October 2023 in Arkadag city, this initiative has become an important regional platform for exchanging views and developing collective solutions on security issues and youth integration into peacebuilding processes.
The meeting is being held within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust – 2025, as proclaimed by the UN General Assembly. English has been chosen as the working language of the target event.
Key objectives of the meeting include:
Reviewing the first decade of the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution on Youth, Peace, and Security;
Strengthening youth cooperation in Central Asia;
Discussing the operational mechanism of the Dialogue;
Developing joint projects for the sustainable development of the region.
The agenda of the meeting includes discussions on the role of education in fostering the culture of peace, strengthening trust among the youth of the region, and social innovations in the context of sustainable development.
This event is expected to gather the officials of relevant government institutions from the countries of Central Asia, representatives of youth organizations, experts from relevant UN agencies, and international partners supporting youth initiatives.
As an outcome of the meeting, the plans include expanding the youth cooperation network, launching new joint initiatives, and preparing proposals for the institutionalization of the Dialogue, including a rotational mechanism for hosting future meetings in the region.
In the context of globalization and the rapid development of information technologies, the younger generation in Central Asia is increasingly turning to the ideas of cooperation, mutual understanding, and the exchange of experience. The Neutrality of Turkmenistan, as well as the ideas that form the basis of initiatives such as the Dialogue of the Youth of the Countries of Central Asia, serves as an important bridge between the states of the region.
